School Oats Program

We’re all connected to agriculture through the food we eat, the clothes we wear, and the products we use. While many of us have the luxury of choosing from a variety of foods, we know that access to nutritious meals can sometimes be a challenge. As food prices rise, it can be hard to focus on what matters most, like learning and growing.

That's why we’re excited to celebrate the incredible benefits of oats with schools across Alberta! We’re offering bursaries to support in-school nutrition programs, helping students fuel their minds and bodies with the goodness of oats.

Why Oats?

Oats are a natural superfood, packed with nutrition and versatility. Whether used in breakfast dishes, snacks, or baked goods, oats are an affordable and delicious way to nourish students throughout the day.

What's the Opportunity?

The Oats for Breakfast Program is open to both urban and rural schools in Alberta. We’re awarding 10 bursaries to support schools in purchasing oats and oat-based foods for students. The program will run from March to June 2025, and the bursaries can be used to bring more oat-based meals and snacks into your classroom.

Celebrating Oats in the Classroom

We encourage teachers to capture the fun and excitement of students cooking, baking, and enjoying oats! Share your photos (submission box at the bottom of this page), comments and quotes on the benefits of oats, and let us know how the program is making a difference. We’d love to hear how oats are helping students learn and thrive.

How to Apply:

To be considered for a bursary, simply submit your application by April 1, 2025. We can’t wait to see how oats inspire your students and enhance their learning experience!

Let's celebrate the power of oats together!
