Air Dry Clay Ornaments

This craft uses a stove, so make sure you ask your parents for help!

This DIY air dry clay recipe makes making ornaments easier than ever.

Materials:

  • Cookie cutters

  • Rolling pin

  • 2 cups baking soda

  • 1 cup cornstarch

  • 1 1/4 cup water

Instructions:

  1. This step uses the stove. Ask your parents for help! Mix all ingredients together over medium heat. Stir constantly until it thickens to the consistency of mashed potatoes. Let cool, then knead until smooth. Your clay is ready!

  2. Roll out your clay with a rolling pin. Doing this on parchment paper makes it easier to clean up later.

  3. Using fun Christmas cookie cutters, cut out different shapes from the clay.

  4. Pierce a small hole in the top using a skewer. This is where you’ll hang it from.

  5. If desired, press a leaf or flower into the clay firmly, then remove. This will leave a plant imprint in the ornament. Or, you can make a handprint or fingerprint on them!

  6. Let the ornaments dry.

  7. Paint if desired, and enjoy your ornaments!
