Canadian Liberator Tulip Program

Agriculture for Life is proud to partner with Ag in the Classroom – Canada and the Dutch Liberation Canadian Society 2020 to host the Canadian Liberator Tulip Program in Alberta.

2020 marks the 75th anniversary of Canadian Forces playing an integral part of the liberation of European countries at the end of World War II. The aim of this program is to raise awareness, pay respect and honour the men, women and families that contributed.

Two types of tulips have been chosen; ‘Canadian Liberator’ and ‘Strong Love’ with the goal to have as many bulbs planted as possible this fall to create a striking visual display in Spring 2020. Decorate gardens and green spaces large and small, from coast to coast to honour and celebrate 75 years of European liberation!

The program is open to Calgary and Edmonton area K-5 classes, on a first-come, first-serve basis. Spaces are limited!

Enrolled schools will receive a box of 25 tulips, along with a teaching unit complete with lesson plans and Alberta-specific curriculum connections to both Science and Social Studies subjects.

The tulip boxes will be shipped to a garden centre in your area (Calgary or Edmonton) for teacher pick-up at the end of September, early October. We will let you know when they are ready for pick-up.

Please note that registration is limited to 5 kits per school with one registration form required per kit.
