Farm Tour for Teachers

Ag for Life’s Farm Tour for Teachers gives teachers the chance to swap their indoor shoes for muck boots as they tour farms, ranches, and agriculture facilities. IMG_4417

Each stop, as well as the bus ride, provides hands-on activities and offers ideas on how to incorporate agriculture education into your classroom in a meaningful way while making connections to the Alberta Program of Studies.  Teachers have the chance to talk candidly with farmers, ranchers, scientists, and ag educators about topics such as what goes into cattle feed, GMOs, and environmental sustainability, as well as come to a basic understanding of the business of farming and ranching in Alberta.

The next Farm Tour for Teachers is scheduled for May 18th, 2017 and will be based out of the Edmonton area.

The Edmonton Teacher Tour will begin at Northlands’ urban farm, located at the corner of 79th Street and 113th Ave. Please plan to arrive at 8:15 am where we will have coffee and a breakfast snack before touring the first location. Lunch will also be included.  We will head to 2-3 other farm locations. We’ll have you back to Northlands for 4:30 pm.

Please note that this program is provided free to teachers. If you have questions, contact the program coordinator at hhanlon@agricultureforlife.ca
