Uniting urban and rural alike to celebrate the agriculture sector
CALGARY (September 26, 2017) – Agriculture for Life (Ag for Life) will host the sixth annual Harvest Gala fundraiser on Friday, November 3, 2017 at the BMO Centre in Calgary, Alberta. The event celebrates the role agriculture plays in our lives and recognizes the hard work and dedication of Alberta’s food producers. Fundraising from the event supports Ag for Life’s mandate of delivering educational programing and improving rural and farm safety while building a genuine appreciation for the industry. Tickets are available at agricultureforlife.ca and typically sell out with over 400 guests in attendance.
“Every year I am amazed and inspired by the raw passion and commitment of Alberta’s agriculture community and its supporters,” says Luree Williamson, Chief Executive Officer, Ag for Life. “Fall harvest is a time to celebrate the community achievement of producing and sharing food. The Harvest Gala provides the opportunity for stakeholders to unite and celebrate the positive impact agriculture has at local, provincial, national and international levels.”
The Gala features an array of locally produced foods, allowing guests to visit Alberta inspired food stations in the Farmer’s Marketplace while enjoying a selection of locally brewed craft beer. Guests can participate in the silent auction and enjoy the sights and sounds of local Alberta artists.
This year’s guest speaker is Aritha van Herk, a cultural commentator and award-winning Canadian novelist. Van Herk teaches Canadian Literature and Creative Writing in the Department of English at the University of Calgary.
Tickets are $250 each or $1,800 for a table of eight. Visit agricultureforlife.ca to purchase tickets online and see last year’s photos, or call 1-888-931-2951 for additional information.
