This November 27, Ag for Life is introducing a new and exciting one-day event to inspire and motivate junior and senior high school girls with an interest in agriculture and food production.
Feed Your Future will highlight the many career opportunities available within the Canadian and Alberta agriculture industry and showcase the successes of women in the industry.
Industry leaders will explore topics ranging from physical and mental wellness, building a brand, personal development as it relates to education and career choices, and how to effectively network to make meaningful connections.
The spotlight that Feed Your Future is shining on agriculture education, innovation and careers comes at the perfect time as Canada’s agriculture sector is facing an agricultural revolution. According to a new RBC report, Farmer 4.0, the agricultural sector will face a manpower shortage of 123,000 agricultural workers by 2030.
The report shows that to address the shortfall and transform the sector, critical skills including, data analysis, robotics and global sales need to be developed.
Farmer 4.0 states that, “with the correct skills mix, agriculture could add another $11 billion to Canada’s GDP.”
Ag for Life’s Feed Your Future event will empower, connect and inspire the young women who will lead this skills revolution in the agriculture industry.
Three Feed Your Future events will be held each year with the goal of reaching urban, rural and Indigenous audiences. Events will be held in Edmonton, Calgary and Medicine Hat/Lethbridge areas. Students will be selected by their teachers to attend on a first come first serve basis. Through the generosity of event supporters, each event will host up to 75 participants provided to them at no charge.
